Each vehicle type has a typical curb weight. The calculator multiplies that weight by about $175 per ton.
It adjusts for condition and parts
Your answers about the engine, catalytic converter, wheels, damage and title raise or lower the metal value.
It shows a range, not a single number
Real cars vary, so the result is a range around the adjusted value. Answer more questions for a tighter estimate.

How accurate is the scrap car value calculator?
It gives a realistic range, not an exact price. The calculator knows the typical weight of your vehicle type and a current Las Vegas scrap rate, then adjusts for the answers you give. Your real car may weigh more or less than the typical figure, and parts demand changes, so the final number comes from our quote and a quick inspection at pickup.
Why might my final offer be different from the estimate?
The most common reasons are a missing catalytic converter, missing wheels or engine parts, or damage that wasn't mentioned. Scrap prices also move with the market. If the car matches what you told us when we quoted it, the quote holds, and if anything changes we explain it before you decide.
What scrap rate does the calculator use?
It uses about $175 per ton for a complete car, based on 2026 Las Vegas junk car price guides that report roughly $165 to $180 per ton locally. Nationally, complete cars were trading near $178 per ton in September 2026. We update the rate as the market changes.
How do I find out how much my car weighs?
Look for the curb weight in your owner's manual or on the manufacturer's spec sheet for your exact year and model. The sticker inside the driver's door jamb lists the gross vehicle weight rating, which is the maximum loaded weight, so it runs higher than what the car weighs empty.
Does mileage change what a junk car is worth?
Not much. A junk car is priced mostly on its metal weight and the parts that can still be resold. Mileage matters more for running cars, because low-mileage engines and transmissions are worth more as used parts, which is why the calculator asks about the engine and transmission instead.
Is a car with no catalytic converter still worth money?
Yes. The car still has its full metal weight and other parts, so it still has scrap value. The converter is one of the most valuable single parts, though, so an estimate drops when it is missing. Choose "Missing or removed" in the calculator to see the difference.
