The city's Code Enforcement Division lists the abatement of junk vehicles among its areas of focus. It starts with notification and education, and if that does not work it can abate the nuisance or issue criminal citations. Code Enforcement is at 702-633-1677. If you have a notice, call us with the deadline.
Parking rules on public streets
According to the city's Parking Services Division, parking one vehicle on a public street for more than 72 hours is illegal. So is doing repairs on the street, leaving a car on jacks or blocks, or displaying it for sale. A car parked on a public street must show current registration.
Unpaid parking citations
Parking Services says unpaid citations bring late fees and a DMV registration hold, and the car may be booted and impounded. Questions go to Parking Services at (702) 633-1560. Tell us about any hold or boot before pickup so we can plan for it.

Can you buy a car with expired registration in North Las Vegas?
Yes. Expired registration does not stop the sale as long as the title is in your name. The city does require current registration on a car parked on a public street, so getting the car moved quickly helps you avoid a citation.
Code enforcement says my car is a junk vehicle. What should I do?

I have an unpaid parking ticket on the car. Can I still sell it?

Yes. Give us the gate code or tell the guard to expect a flatbed. HOA rules differ, and many do not allow inoperable cars in view, so check your letter for the date and keep a copy. Nevada law (NRS 116.350) limits when an HOA can direct a car towed.
