How it works

How to Sell Your Junk Car in Boulder City

Four steps sell a Boulder City car. Because the drive from Las Vegas is longer, we confirm the timing by phone before we head out.
  1. 1

    Call or send the details

Phone (725) 298-3470 or send the form. Give us the year, make and model, what is wrong with the car and the street it is parked on.

  2. 2

    Get a quote

Tell us about the car and we send back a price. It is free to ask, and you can think it over.

  3. 3

    Confirm the pickup window

Boulder City is farther out than most pickups, so we agree on a window with you by phone first. Call early in the day if you hope for the same day.

  4. 4

    Final check and payment

On arrival the driver compares the car with your description and settles the final price. After you sign the title, you get cash or a check, and only then is the car towed.

What we buy

Cars We Buy in Boulder City

Boulder City has specific rules about junk that can be seen from the street. These are situations we buy.
  • A car that has sat under a cover

The city says a car cover does not hide an inoperable vehicle. If your covered car is still visible from the street or a neighbor's yard, selling it solves the problem.

  • A project car up on blocks

Boulder City counts a car up on blocks as a junk vehicle. If the project has stalled, we buy it as it sits.

  • A car that has sat in the driveway past 72 hours

The city does not allow a junk vehicle to sit on private property for more than 72 hours. A dead car in plain sight is a quick way to get a notice.

  • A car wrecked on US 93 or US 95

Damage from a highway collision can total an older car. If an insurer settled the claim, see who holds the title first.

  • A car left by a relative

A car you inherited can be sold once the title has been put in your name. For one owned by someone who died, see our title FAQs for the forms Nevada requires.

  • An old truck that is done hauling

Heavier vehicles bring more at the scrap yard. Tell us the year and what failed, and we will price it as it sits.

Local rules

Boulder City Rules That Affect Your Junk Car

Boulder City has its own Code Enforcement office and its own Police Department, so the rules here differ from Las Vegas and Clark County. Here is what the city's own website says.

What counts as a junk vehicle

The city defines a junk vehicle as any vehicle that is wrecked, dismantled, partially dismantled, abandoned, discarded, stripped, scrapped, up on blocks or rendered inoperative. A person may not leave one on private property in the city for more than 72 hours.

Hidden does not mean covered

An inoperable vehicle may stay if it is in a completely enclosed building or not visible from any public way or adjoining property. The city says a car cover does not meet that requirement.

Who handles what

Code Enforcement, at 702-589-9603, handles junk on private property, and the first violation notice usually allows 14 days to fix it. The Police Department, at 702-293-9224, handles parking violations on public streets and alleys.

How Much Cash Can You Get for a Junk Car in Boulder City?

Weight, condition and resalable parts set your offer. Towing is free from Boulder City, so the longer drive never comes out of your payment.

At Las Vegas scrap yards, whole cars have been selling by weight for about $165 to $180 a ton this year. A 2,900-pound sedan is about 1.45 tons, so its steel alone is worth around $240 to $260 before the catalytic converter and other parts. Valley offers run from about $220 for a small car to $850 for a pickup. These are estimates, not guaranteed offers.

Try the scrap car value calculator or see typical offers by vehicle type.

Paperwork for Boulder City Sellers

Have the Nevada title and a photo ID in the seller's name. If a loan was paid off, add the lender's lien release. To replace a lost title, the owner files Nevada DMV form VP-012.

The plates come off and stay with you. Registration comes first, insurance second, and the DMV resale notice last, within five days of the sale.

FAQs

Boulder City Junk Car Questions

Do you really pick up in Boulder City, 26 miles from Las Vegas?

Yes. Boulder City is on our service list and towing is free. Because it is a longer drive, we confirm a pickup window with you by phone before heading out.

Can I keep an inoperable car in Boulder City if I put a cover on it?

Not if it is still visible. The city says an inoperable vehicle must be in a completely enclosed building or not visible from any public way or adjoining property, and that a car cover does not meet that rule.

How long can a junk car sit in my Boulder City driveway?

The city says a junk vehicle may not stay on private property for more than 72 hours. Junk includes wrecked, stripped, up on blocks or rendered inoperative. If you are past that, call us the same day.

I got a violation notice from Boulder City. How long do I have?

The city says the first notice for most violations allows 14 days, and the notice itself states your deadline. Code Enforcement is at 702-589-9603. Call us as soon as you have the notice so we can work backward from the date.

Who handles a car parked on a Boulder City street?

The Boulder City Police Department handles parking violations on public streets and alleys. Their number is 702-293-9224. Code Enforcement handles junk on private property.

I bought a house with a junk car in the yard. Whose problem is it?

Yours, according to the city. Boulder City says violations are tied to the property, not the person who created them, so buying a property with a violation makes you responsible for removing it. If the car is yours to sell, we can buy it.
